Fiat Marea
Fiat Marea is a unique design by an Italian automobile manufacturer. It was launched in 1996 after slight modifications were done on the original designs of Fiat Brava and Bravo models. Fiat Marea models were introduced in the market with the aim of replacing Tipo based Fiat Tempra.
Fiat Marea therefore came on a premise of increased reliability and enhanced capacity to perform better than Fiat Brava and Bravo Models. The new models had been earmarked to compete effectively with other models such as Ford Mondeo, Vauxhall Vectraand, Peugeot 406 but lost out terribly over an assumption that the manufacturer had lost credibility for coming up with cars which did not meet the set specifications on quality.
The Fiat Marea had taken the unique models of a saloon car and weekend estate which were well designed and versatile. They did not last in the European market for long and were fast replaced. The Fiat Stilo Multiwagon replaced the Marea Weekend model while Saloon version was replaced by Fiat Linea in 2007. However the two models continued to be manufactured in Brazil and Turkey after having been exited from the European market.
Most of Fiat Marea has been designed with large space in the interior while the weekend model has been fitted with a 500litre boot which can accommodate an additional 1,560litres once the rear seats are folded down. However, the saloon model is a smaller family car than the estate model but still enjoys an impressive capacity with a 439 liter boot.
It has an interesting feature on the bonnet which accommodates two sets of both petrol and diesel engines. The smallest petrol unit in the Marea stands at a high of 1.6liter with a capacity of 103bhp while the 1.8liter has a producing capacity of 113bhp. However, with time, the small engine capacity has been replaced from a 147bhp 2 liter to a 150bhp 2litre.
